Posted 2 years agoThere’s simply no question that the Audi TT is one of the greatest pieces of car design from the last 30 years or so. The first generation of TT that came upon our shores back in 1998 still looks the business, so much so that the following generations of the TT haven’t really changed much when it comes to the exterior design. Whether it’s the classic coupe or this soft-top version of the TT, it’s easy to form a case for this car being a true modern classic.
The design has always been the key feature of the Audi TT, with the curvaceous body that it debuted with slowly morphing into something a little sharper and more angular over time, but without compromising the original vision. Inside, things have changed a lot more. The TT features one of the finest driver-focused interiors on the market, something that feels truly for you when you’re driving it. Audi’s focus was clearly on simplicity, with minimal fuss and clean lines, carefully placed controls for the air-vents, hardly any buttons in the cockpit at all, and speaking of cockpits, Audi’s stunning ‘Virtual Cockpit’ also makes an appearance here. This system replaces the traditional dials you’d find behind the steering wheel with a configurable screen featuring navigation, driving information, radio and media, as well as car setup and mode configuration. The result is a minimalist interior with all the information the driver will ever need put right in front of him or her, it’s incredibly convenient as well as stylish, and it’s easy to see why Audi has adopted this system in practically all of its other models.
You can order your Audi TT roadster with either front-wheel drive or with the famous all-wheel drive system that Audi and the world knows as ‘Quattro’. Keen drivers will certainly get more of a kick from the more dynamically involving Quattro system and its improved levels of grip. With all-wheel drive, the TT roadster really comes alive and is definitely the one to choose for spirited drivers, its grip in the corners is really something to experience.
Power for all TT roadster models – aside from the TT RS – comes from a 2.0-litre ‘TFSI’ petrol engine. It is available in varying states of tune up to 241bhp, enough to give this relatively small car some excellent pace on B-roads.
