Leasing a pick-up for your business

Leasing a pick-up truck is proving more and more popular for many businesses, who want easy access to load and unload the vehicle, as well as a cab for passengers and the driver.

Ford are credited as being the first manufacturer to create a pick-up truck and even coining the term ‘pick-up’. In 1925 the Model T Roadster was released and over the years it was modified to better suit the work force it was supporting. Slowly pick-ups became more well-known, but their popularity didn’t increase until many years later when it became known to manufacturers that there was a demand for vehicles that benefit working and family life. Nowadays, there are many manufacturers that offer pick-up trucks such as Toyota, Isuzu and Ssangyong.

If you’re looking for a vehicle that has the versatility of being comfortable, with plenty of cargo room, that is also fun to drive, then a pick-up could be right for you. In recent years pick-ups have become well sought-after by people looking for a commercial vehicle that also benefits their home life. These inherently-American vehicles are praised by much of the labour-intensive work force, such as farmers, construction workers, and tradespeople, for their durable and strong nature, making them the perfect work vehicle. On the other hand, the modern day pick-up can be designed to include all the latest technology and safety features as well as the great cargo space to make the ideal luxury family vehicle.

When it comes to leasing a pick-up for your business, it can be fairly cost-effective. Currently the road tax for pick-ups is £320 for 2023/24. When it comes to the benefit-in-kind tax, at the 20% rate you’re looking at £66 a month and for the 40% rate it will cost £132 per month. A double cab pick-up that can’t carry a 1000kg payload, or 1040kg if it has been fitted with a hardtop, is the exception to these tax rates. Maxus T90

The next big change for pick-ups are the all-electric variants. As the automotive industry adapts to support the upcoming deadline for all road vehicles to turn fully electric, pick-ups will be following suit. One vehicle in particular that is catching the eye of Synergy customers is the Maxus T90 – Britain’s first all-electric pick-up truck. According to the latest WLTP testing procedures, this vehicle has a combined range of 220-miles, however it is important to note the stated maximum mileages may not always be achieved in ‘real world’ driving conditions. This pick-up truck can be perfect in any work setting, carrying out a whole range of jobs, while producing no harmful exhaust emissions! This truck is well suited to both on and off-road duties thanks to the electric motor being mounted to the rear of the chassis, making it a fantastic rear-wheel drive.
