The Honda Civic car lease is one of those cars and one of those names that most people know. It’s been around since the early 1970’s, being first produced in 1972 and it has moved with the times since, growing in size and ability.
Currently, the Honda Civic is into its 10th generation and this car was introduced in 2016 after what Honda says was the most expensive development programme the firm has undertaken over 7-years. Even a brief drive in the new Civic shows off Honda’s expertise, this is the most comfortable and refined Civic in the model’s history and its also the most capable as driver’s car.
The Civic ‘Type R’ is well known in performance circles, a legendary hot hatchback that ranks frequently among the best. Its 2.0-litre 4-cylinder ‘VTEC ‘turbo engine puts out nearly 320bhp which is enough to send the Civic to 62mph in 5.8-seconds. But what if you want something more family friendly?
Well, if high performance isn’t your thing, you’ll be pleased to know you can enjoy the Civic at a more leisurely place – 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre version of a VTEC turbo petrol engine are available, producing 124 or 179bhp respectively, while Honda also has a 1.6-litre i-DTEC 118bhp diesel engine to choose from. This excellent diesel engine produces just 93g/km of CO2, while being capable of 78mpg on a combined cycle – remarkable figures that show just how advanced modern diesel engines are. While the diesel engine is only available with a 6-speed manual, an automatic ‘CVT’ box can be specified on both petrol engines.
Not including the Type R, there are 5 trim levels of the Honda Civic. Aside from the usual technologies and equipment you get in most modern cars, Honda recently decided to make its ‘Sensing’ safety equipment bundle a standard feature across the Civic range. We should all be more thankful for this kind of technology – adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance, traffic sign recognition, etc. It makes driving the Honda Civic saloon lease safer and easier and can genuinely save lives.
While cars like the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus take most of the attention away from the Honda Civic, a very solid case can be easily made for the Civic being the best car in the segment. Brilliant to drive, generously equipped with fabulous engines, this is a machine that simply must be considered if you’re seeking a new family hatchback.
