When you think about it, the Kia Rio doesn’t have it all that easy here in Europe. This continent is home to the toughest field of superminis anywhere in the world, with the likes of the Ford Fiesta, Nissan Micra, Mazda 2, Volkswagen Polo, Seat Ibiza, Renault Clio and Skoda Fabia all competing in the same corner of the market.
Elsewhere in the world, the Rio absolutely flourishes, selling close to half a million units each year and ranking among Kia’s best-selling products. With the Korean car brands really shining brightly and attracting a lot of new customers here in the UK, the Rio is steadily gathering more and more attention and it’s a car that deserves serious consideration.
The Kia Rio car lease offers no gimmicks or garnish in its design. This is a simple, efficient and well-made 5-door supermini with plenty of space and a good level of standard equipment. Under its bonnet you’ll find a selection of petrol engines - diesel was dropped from the Rio range last year. There are 1.25-litre and 1.4-litre normally-aspirated with 83 and 98bhp respectively, but the newer 99 and 118bhp 1.0-litre ‘T-GDi’ turbo engines are more to the tastes of the modern lease customer. With the T-GDi units, mpg of the mid-40’s should be quite achievable. In the 99bhp version, a 5-speed manual gearbox is your transmission, while the 118bhp gains an extra speed and also comes with the option of being fitted with a 7-speed double-clutch automatic. Kia Rio Hatchback leasing is available on personal lease.
In terms of trim levels, the Kia Rio leasing deals range – like all of Kia’s products – is quite simple. It is ordered from 1 to 3, with additional sporty-designed ‘GT-Line’ and ‘GT-Line S’ models on top. Even the base ‘1’ model gets air conditioning and Bluetooth, but the majority of Synergy lease customers will be looking to take advantage of the great price of the 3, with its 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, DAB, Bluetooth and smartphone integration. It also gets climate control, faux leather upholstery, forward collision avoidance assistance and lane departure warning, cruise control, heated front seats and steering wheel, and rain sensing wipers.
