Posted 6 years agoWith its good looks and generous equipment, the Mazda CX-5 is an SUV not to overlook.
If you feel like an alternative to the likes of the Volkswagen Tiguan or even the BMW X3, then Mazda’s CX-5 is a great place to look.
The CX-5 first appeared back in 2012, replacing an older Mazda SUV. In 2017, it entered its second generation and the CX-5 has been steadily growing ever more popular since. First impressions count for a lot, as we all know, and the fact that the Mazda currently has one of the best-looking family faces in the motoring world helps the CX-5 really standout. Mazda’s design language is called ‘Kodo’ which aims to reflect ‘the soul of motion’ and its excellent proportions and fast looks make it really attractive.
Mazda is also producing brilliant interiors at the moment, with comfortable seating, great driving positions and a wealth of quality materials put together to a high standard make being inside its products feel really good.
It’s also very good to drive, particularly with the 148 or 182bhp 2.2-litre 4-cylinder diesel engines. Both of these units offer plenty of punch and low-down grunt which always feels good in an SUV. Alternatively, a 2.0-litre normally aspirated petrol engine is offered, which is an unusual choice for an SUV as it needs to be worked harder to produce its peak power. However, when driven in a brisk manner the CX-5 is one of the best handling SUVs on the market and feels really communicative and enjoyable when driven with intent.
There are 3 trim levels for the CX-5 but even the entry level car gets an excellent selection of equipment. It includes LED headlights, a 7-inchs touchscreen infotainment system with DAB digital radio, navigation and Bluetooth, Mazda’s ‘MZD-Connect’ function, adaptive cruise control, a blind spot monitoring system with rear cross traffic alert, automatic emergency braking, dual-zone climate control air-conditioning, lane-keeping assistance and front and rear parking sensors. This list of standard equipment puts it among the best value vehicles in its class.
Typically Mazda, the CX-5 SUV lease is sporty, great value for money and very good-looking. It drives well, feels incredibly high quality and drives as good as many of the efforts from premium brands.
