Abarth 595
The Abarth 595 – uncompromising performance meets Italian style and heritage.
Since the 1960’s, Abarth has been taking tame Fiat 500’s and transforming them into a far more aggressive beast – a 595. Abarth 595’s are the hot hatch equivalents of the Fiat 500 and they come in a few different flavours.
All Abarth 595’s are powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine and come with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, though an automatic is also available as an option. Models can be either hatchback or convertible, with an elegant reclining fabric roof.
The entry level 595 is known purely as ‘595’ and has around 145bhp as well as a host of upgrades to the braking system and interior. ‘Trofeo’ and ‘Turismo’ models are further upgraded, with the Trofeo featuring around 160bhp, further upgraded brakes as well as an upgraded rear suspension from suspension experts Koni and a connected telemetry system. A famously vocal ‘Record Monza’ exhaust completes the racy feel. ‘Turismo’ – Italian for ‘touring’ – doesn’t feature the louder exhaust like the Trofeo but retains the Koni suspension and features an extra 5bhp as well as a host of design upgrades.
Synergy customers looking for the highest performing 595 will be drawn to the ‘Competizione’. Its name translates to ‘Competition’ in English and Abarth has not held back in packing this model with exceptional performance parts. With around 180bhp, high-performance brakes from Brembo, improved suspension from Koni, a Record Monza exhaust system, improved aerodynamics, lightweight alloy wheels, a Limited Slip Differential and fantastic sporty Sabelt bucket seats. It’s capable of a 0-62bhp sprint in just 6.7-seconds, and because it’s a light car (1,045kg) and comes with motorsport upgrades it has incredible agility.
In terms of equipment, Abarth does provide a selection of equipment that includes within the range a touchscreen infotainment system with DAB radio and navigation, climate control, and digital dials. If you fancy a boost, upgradeable parts from Abarth can be ordered to increase performance.
Few cars are as fun to drive on the road as an Abarth 595, with their size and agility giving them incredible ability on British roads. Like the Scorpion that sits proudly on the Abarth crest, they may be small, but they pack a serious punch.
