Posted 2 weeks agoLEVC have been producing a range of electric commercial vehicles since 2017. Most notably, the company have helped manufacture the latest all-electric London black cab, which has helped drivers to meet strict emission targets as well as the requirements of London’s ultra-low emission zone.
The UK-based firm plans to revolutionise the electric van market with EV technology that can be used worldwide. It is described as ‘eCity technology’ which uses a standard electric battery with a smaller combustion engine to help extend the range. As a result, LEVC describe their models as Range Extended Electric Vehicles (REEV). Each REEV is powered exclusively by electricity.
This combustion engine acts as a ‘range extender’. When necessary, it will recharge the battery and help improve the vehicles range particularly on longer journeys. LEVC have developed this powertrain so that there is no connection between the electric battery and combustion engine. Unlike a hybrid system, which will switch between the two different power sources, a REEV acts on electric power alone and use the engine as a power source to provide electric charge.
Currently only the LEVC VN5 is available to lease with Synergy. The LEVC electric van lease uses the same platform and EV technology as the London black cab, which is no bad thing.
