HONDA CIVIC SALOON CAR LEASING
You don’t ship more than 19,000,000 vehicles worldwide without having a winning product on your hands, and over the last half a century, Honda has done just that. The Civic is a car you’ll probably have come across in your life as a motorist at some point or another, it’s established itself over 10 model generations, beginning in the 1970’s. The world has changed a lot since then, and so has the Civic, growing in size, stature and ability as an all-round family vehicle.
The current 10th generation of Civic comes as either a hatchback or a saloon, and it’s the saloon that we have on display here. This car was introduced in 2016, with Honda claiming that it spent 7 years developing this car and spending what it describes as the most expensive development programme the firm has ever undertaken. Thankfully for Honda, it was worth the time and investment as the new Civic is easily the most complete and well-rounded product yet to bare the Civic badge. The Civic saloon looks smart, drives with both refinement and accuracy and packs an impressive 519-litre load capacity.
Unlike some other manufacturers, Honda makes a clear distinction between the Civic hatchback and this saloon in that it isn’t available with more the powerful engines in the Civic family. There’s no option of selecting either the 1.5-litre petrol or the 2.0-litre unit in the Civic saloon, meaning that there’s no Type-R model, either. Instead, a 1.0-litre 124bhp petrol or the 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel with 118bhp make up your engine options, with the diesel engine usually preferred by Synergy customers travelling longer distances or looking to lease on a business agreement. At just 93g/km of CO2 and the potential for 78mpg on a combined cycle, it’s an engine with few rivals when it comes to diesel power.
While the absence of more powerful engines and a hot Type-R model will concern Synergy customers seeking stronger performance, the Civic saloon is deliberately intended to be a softer, more comfortable cruiser over the hatchback. It’s more for those not seeking to drive quickly, but rather get from A to B in quiet comfort. Honda also now offers its ‘Sensing’ safety equipment bundle a standard feature across the Civic range, with adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance, traffic sign recognition now all provided without the need to tick any option boxes.
With its efficient engine and high quality refinement levels, the Honda Civic saloon is well worthy of consideration for anyone in the market for a comfortable new small family car.
