Jeep Wrangler Business & Personal Car Leasing Offers
A hero vehicle with DNA closely matching that of the legendary Willy’s Jeep.
Some things never change, Morgan’s elegant sportscars are a good example of that, as is the Jeep Wrangler, an off-road legend in the motoring world that is directly descended from the Jeeps of the Second World War.
The Wrangler is not meant to be luxurious, economical or even very modern. What it is meant to be is extremely capable, able to handle some of the toughest terrain planet Earth can throw at you as well as being a fun, quirky throwback to the famous Jeep vehicles of the past. Expect low ratio gearing, tough axels and locking differentials to help you traverse nature’s barriers.
At roughly 2-tonnes in weight, the Wrangler is a heavy machine and out on the road you can really feel it in the corners. The steering is vague, and the body roll is reminiscent of a Channel ferry, but it is comfortable, and it does have serious presence, looking at all times like an action hero’s choice of wheels.
Power comes from either a 2.2-litre diesel with around 195bhp, or a 2.0-litre petrol with closer to 265bhp. These are both new engines for the Wrangler, introduced in 2018 and looking to offer terrain-conquering performance with improved emissions and economy – though you’ll be lucky to see 30mpg from the petrol and 35mpg from the diesel. These engines are about getting you through tough terrain, not saving you trips to the fuel station.
Both 2 and 4-door versions are available with the 2018 Wrangler, and there’s 3 different trim levels for Synergy customers to choose between. Those seeking maximum go-anywhere ability should seek out the ‘Rubicon’, the toughest Wrangler of the range, while entry level Sahara will still be enough to get you through most tricky off-road situations. In the middle of the range sits the ‘Overland’, with its leather seating, touchscreen infotainment systems and array of personalisation and options, this represents the best of both worlds and is often the most tempting of the range.
With the Land Rover Defender currently off the market, the Jeep Wrangler is the next best (some would say the best) alternative. A never-say-die off-roader with a character and history unlike any other, it’s a very easy machine to fall in love with.
