KIA SPORTAGE
Stylish SUV is Kia’s most successful product and a landmark for the Korean car industry.
British history with the Kia Sportage really begins in 2010, from the arrival of its 3rd generation Sportage SUV, an arrival which has since transformed the way Kia and Korean cars in general are perceived today.
Kia wasn’t all that fashionable in the 1990’s and early 2000’s. The Sportage is the car that changed the way Kia was seen and the firm is now viewed as a producer of high-quality, reliable and very desirable machines. That 3rd generation Sportage changed a lot and was an absolute smash hit for Kia, finding its way to a million homes in just four years. We’re now into the 4th generation of Sportage and that is said to have sold a million in just 29 months. Here at Synergy Automotive, plenty of our customers have chosen to lease one too.
The reasons are straightforward. The Sportage is one of the best medium SUV’s on the market, blessed with a very stylish design and built to a high-standard, but it’s also excellent value for money, particularly on a lease agreement.
Providing the Sportage with power is a range of 4 engines, two petrol and two diesels. The petrol offerings are the same 1.6-litre ‘GDi’ unit that comes either with or without a turbo, while the 1.7 and 2.0-litre diesel ‘CRDi’ engines from the last model have been replaced with a new 1.6-litre unit in two states of tune – 114 or 134bhp. Though by no means a sports car, cars like the Sportage do benefit from a more powerful engine and a diesel source with its extra torque usually proves popular, so we’re expecting the new 134bhp version to be a popular choice for our customers.
Kia usually has a fairly simple numerical trim-level system (a larger number equals a higher spec) but aside from trims 1, 2 and 4, the new Sportage also has an ‘Edition 25’ and a ‘GT-Line’ and ‘GT-Line S’ in the new model. All entry-level ‘1’ Sportage models get cruise control, air conditioning, reversing camera and smartphone integration, but stepping up to ‘2’ is well worthwhile as you get extra equipment still at a great price. Touchscreen navigation, heated seats, lane-keeping assistance, high-beam assistance, and speed limit warning make the upgrade well worthwhile.
This popular little SUV looks set to continue to impress Synergy’s customers and their families with its winning formula of quality and style, and on a business or personal lease agreement, the Sportage is also excellent value for money.
