LAND ROVER DISCOVERY SPORT CAR LEASING
The younger brother of the legendary Land Rover Discovery – and equally as capable.
If you just glance at it quickly, you’d be forgiven for thinking the car we have here is actually the Land Rover Discovery. The two are virtually identical in terms of design and styling, but there’s some key differences between them even though both are incredibly capable machines.
For a start, the Discovery Sport is a smaller vehicle. It was built to replace the Land Rover Freelander – a very popular car with rural customers. The old Freelander was an excellent off-roader but it was a bit outdated and not all that fashionable, so Land Rover shrunk the Discovery a little bit and the Discovery Sport was the result.
If you’ve ever driven the old Freelander, you’ll immediately appreciate Land Rover’s move. The Discovery Sport is a brilliant modern SUV, great to drive on the road and incredibly accomplished off it. It’s available with the option of having 7-seats, great for larger families looking for a stylish SUV for their adventures, but if 7-seats isn’t what you need, the standard 5-seat arrangement leaves you with a very large boot – for difficult loads the car can even be setup in 4, 3, and 2-seat configurations.
The Discovery Sport benefits from Jaguar-Land Rover’s brilliant new ‘Ingenium’ engines. This new series of petrol and diesel engines was – like the Discovery Sport – designed with versatility in mind. 2.0-litre turbocharged variants of both fuel sources provide excellent figures when it comes to both power and efficiency, and there’s an optional 9-speed automatic gearbox which offers seamless gear changes. Synergy customers who want the all-wheel drive look but not necessarily the extra running cost associated with driving all four wheels also have the choice of choosing a front-wheel drive version for improved overall efficiency.
You’ll want the all-wheel drive version if you plan on doing any driving off-road, where the Discovery Sport is brilliant at taking care of itself and really begins to shine. It’s remarkably easy to control in difficult terrain thanks to Land Rover’s All-Terrain Response system, utilising computer systems and sensors to assist you on an off-road adventure.
‘Sport’ is often a word associated with performance cars out on the asphalt, but the Discovery Sport shows that the word can be applied to off-road capability too. If you’re a Synergy customer with an adventurous streak, the Discovery Sport might just be the perfect car for you.
