Lotus Exige Business & Personal Car Leasing Offers
Widley regarded to be one of the best handling sports cars ever made, the Lotus Exige demonstrates the genius of Lotus engineering.
When it comes to driver immersion, there aren’t many cars that can you can sink into quite like the Lotus Exige. It began life as a more extreme, more powerful version of the successful Elise sports car, but it has grown and developed into a model of its own rank and status, capable of delivering incredible statistics and a raw, highly involving driving experience.
The Exige benefits from what Lotus claims is ‘state of the art’ construction, with a bonded aluminium chassis-tub forming the foundation of this famously lightweight machine. That is a key element in the way the Exige drives, giving a high amount of torsional rigidity which is the basis of the handling. It is a very small car with heavy aerodynamic presence and when it hits the scales, the Exige shows a weight of 1,125kg – which is less than a Ford Fiesta.
Lotus uses Toyota engines for its cars, but they are far from what you’d find in a Toyota car. They are heavily modified and tuned units producing a high amount of power. In all Exige models, you get a 3.5-litre V6. The base Exige is called the ‘Sport 350’ and the V6 in this car produces 345bhp, enough to send the car to a top speed of 170mph, and to 62 from a standstill in roughly 3.5-seconds. In the top-spec ‘Cup 430’ model, extensive use of carbon fibre parts reduces the overall weight of the Exige to just 1,059kg and an increase in power to 430bhp results in a 180mph top speed and a 0-62 time of just over 3-seconds – simply incredible pace. Lotus itself describes this particular model’s aerodynamic body as ‘unapologetically aggressive’, which is apt considering it produces 220kg of downforce.
A Lotus Exige in any form is a hardcore, driver focused machine that is raw and alive much like cars of a bygone era. To discuss this uncompromising machine, we recommend contact one of our friendly and professional team directly.
