Posted 3 years agoFor the German brand, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Saloon is a platform for its technological ability. The model comes bursting with all kinds of safety equipment and driver aids and is considered the flagship of the Mercedes brand, a showcase for what it is all about.
Ahead of its time technology housed in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class comprises Magic Body Control suspension that endlessly adjusts itself for the best ride. It takes information from cameras examining the road, mapping out areas of scarred asphalt and tweaking the car’s dampers accordingly.
In addition, Mercedes’ Curve function enables the S-Class to lean into corners at high-speed, giving the Benz an ability that goes beyond its size. And while full autonomous driving tech isn’t 100 per cent a reality yet, the Mercedes S-Class can self-steer for up to 15 seconds at a time.
Once the Mercedes-Benz S-Class came just in S 350 d and S 500 forms, with the diesel obtainable in short-wheelbase guise. But recently a variety of other powerplants have been added to the mix, including a more potent S 400 d diesel, S 450 petrol and an S-Class Saloon plug-in hybrid. Hardcore driving Mercedes-AMG versions are also to be had in S 63 and S 65 forms, both requiring only 4.3 seconds for the 0-62mph benchmark sprint. Crowning the line-up, with an elongated body to give rear-seat passengers even more space to savour, is the Mercedes-Maybach presented in S 650 spec, with the same V12 engine as contained in the S 65.
The modern-day S-Class is bigger than ever, so the Mercedes-Benz is more practical than ever. There's enormous headroom in the front, with more knee room and shoulder room than you can shake a stick at. Go for the long-wheelbase S-Class Saloon, and there's masses of room to sprawl out back there. The S-Class's boot is significant, too, with a wide opening, enabling stress-free access to the 510 litres of luxury-lined cargo space within. What’s more, you can opt for a ski hatch behind the middle-rear seat position if you want further practicality.
So, if you haven't gathered already, comfort within the S-Class is sublime, whether you're in the front or rear of this Mercedes. You'll get excellent levels of luxury across the line-up and an infinite amount of cutting-edge technology as well.
