Posted one year agoThe Toyota Corolla is the world’s best-selling vehicle, a car that, in 2013, surpassed 40-million global sales. That is, quite simply, staggering, and while the Corolla name took a brief hiatus in the last decade, it returned not all that long ago and immediately resumed its previous success. It has also moved into the commercial vehicle sector, and that’s where this version comes in, it’s the Toyota Corolla van, specially setup for busy business users.
You’ll need to open the doors before you see the big difference between this and the normal Corolla, because from the exterior, it looks exactly like a normal Corolla Sports Tourer. There’s almost no way of telling it apart from its passenger vehicle version, but open the back doors and you’ll notice there’s no back seats. This commercial version of the Corolla comes with two front seats, and the rest of the car is given over to cargo space, just like any other van.
Let’s take a look at some of the specifications of this vehicle as a van first. Its load length is 1,558mm, while its maximum load width is 1,430mm. It has a 1.3 cubic metre maximum load volume and a maximum payload of 425kg. So, it’s certainly on the smaller side of vankind, and is not intended for carrying heavy or large objects, but for urban deliveries, and frequent or constant smaller deliveries, it really hits the spot. It’s also capable of towing, 750kg braked and 450kg unbraked.
The Corolla van also comes with the option of Toyota’s famous hybrid technology. It combines a 1.8-litre petrol engine with an electric motor. This self-charging hybrid system is a proven winner and very hassle free as far as hybrid technology goes. It also doesn’t require charging with a cable and will keep CO2 emissions low and mpg figures high while driving. In this spec, it’s one of the only hybrid vans up for leasing on a Synergy business or personal agreement.
