Posted one year agoThe Proace City joined Toyota’s commercial line-up in 2019, strengthening their presence in the small van market. Sitting below the mid-sized Proace and the larger Proace Max, it’s the most compact model in Toyota’s van range.
Built on the Stellantis small van platform, the Proace City shares its underpinnings with the Citroën Berlingo, Peugeot Partner and Vauxhall Combo, combining proven engineering with Toyota’s reliability and extensive manufacturer warranty. This partnership has allowed the Proace City to deliver excellent practicality, a modern interior and the latest driver assistance technology. Customers can choose from efficient diesel engines or the fully electric Proace City Electric, with multiple body lengths and trim levels available.

Toyota Proace City leasing is available in a choice of three trims:
- Active: The entry-level model comes with manual air conditioning, DAB radio, Bluetooth, USB connectivity, sliding side door and safety features including lane departure warning and speed limiter.
- Icon: Adds an 8-inch colour touchscreen, smartphone integration (Apple CarPlay & Android Auto), rear parking sensors, cruise control and the Smart Cargo system for increased load space flexibility.
- Sport: The top-spec trim features alloy wheels, upgraded interior styling, satellite navigation, digital instrument cluster, reversing camera, and advanced driver assistance including blind spot monitoring.
The Toyota Proace City is available with a choice of efficient diesel or electric powertrains to suit different business needs. Diesel versions use a 1.5-litre engine, offered in two power outputs: 100bhp with a six-speed manual gearbox, or 130bhp with the option of an eight-speed automatic. Both are front-wheel drive and provide a payload of up to 990kg, with a braked towing capacity of around 1,200kg depending on specification.
The Proace City Electric uses a 136bhp motor paired with a 50kWh battery, delivering up to 213 miles of range (WLTP). With 100kW rapid charging capability, a 0–80% charge can be completed in approximately 30 minutes. Smooth acceleration and instant torque make the electric model particularly effective for stop-start city driving.
The Proace City might be a small van, but its clever design maximises practicality. Wide-opening rear doors and a low loading height make loading simple, while a sliding side door is fitted as standard, with the option for dual sliding doors. Two body lengths are available: the Short (L1) and Long (L2), both designed to carry up to two Euro pallets with ease.
Higher trims such as Icon and Sport add visual upgrades, including alloy wheels, body-coloured bumpers, LED daytime running lights and enhanced styling details. The Proace City Electric has a neatly integrated charging port for convenient access.
Inside, the Proace City is built with robust materials and clever storage solutions including under-seat compartments and overhead shelves. The Smart Cargo system allows the passenger seat to fold flat, creating extra load length or a useful desk space.
Icon and Sport trims add extra comfort and technology, such as an 8-inch colour touchscreen, smartphone connectivity, cruise control, and a digital instrument cluster. The cabin is designed to provide a comfortable driving position with excellent visibility, making it just as suitable for longer journeys as for city deliveries.
All Proace City models come equipped with Toyota Safety Sense technology as standard, including lane departure warning, pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, speed limiter and hill start assist. These features help to make every journey safer and more controlled.
Icon and Sport trims add rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control.
