VAUXHALL CROSSLAND X
The new Vauxhall Crossland X offers high practicality and styling and is great value for money.
Vauxhall’s Crossland X is one of the first cars from Vauxhall that we’ve seen released under the ownership of the Peugeot Group, and there is a little hint of Gallic design in the overall shape of the car. It’s actually based on the same platform as the Citroen C3 Picasso and Peugeot 2008, both very accomplished compact SUVs themselves.
The Crossland X is the replacement for the Meriva, an older model that was an MPV and not quite as fashionable as the current SUV trends. While the Crossland X isn’t a big, rugged looking SUV, it’s a stylish little car that has got off to an excellent start here in the UK, attracting a lot of enquiries from Synergy customers.
Efficiency is clearly one of the main missions for the Crossland X, as Vauxhall has decided to place only a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder unit into the car for petrol power. It’s available in 3 states of tune, so Synergy customers will be able to choose the output that they feel will suit them best, or they can choose the diesel option – a 1.5-litre that Vauxhall says is capable of returning 70mpg while giving out just 105g/km of CO2. Your transmission will be a 5-speed or 6-speed manual depending on your choice of power output, and while there is a 6-speed automatic available, it’s exclusive to just one model. Despite being an SUV, the Crossland X is intended for road use only and as such, it doesn’t come with the option of an all-wheel drive system. On the upside, that improves efficiency.
Space and practicality are two of the biggest pluses to the Crossland X, with lots of head and knee room for rear-seated passengers and a boot space with an impressive 410-litre capacity – growing to 1,255-litres with the rear seats folded down. This is one of those cars that looks small but can carry quite a lot.
‘Design Line’ trim and above get very good levels of equipment, the aforementioned also benefits from being a more distinctive design as well as getting automatic climate control, adaptive cruise control, automatic lights and wipers, and Vauxhall’s ‘Intellilink’ touchscreen infotainment system.
Trendy, practical, efficient and benefitting from new beginnings, the Vauxhall Crossland X is drawing many admiring glances and looks set to be another successful Vauxhall product.
