VAUXHALL INSIGNIA
Vauxhall’s hugely popular fleet car is a superb mile-muncher and quality overall product.
Since its introduction back in 2008, the Vauxhall Insignia lease has been the go-to choice for businesses running fleets that were looking for an efficient, smartly presented saloon or estate. However, with introduction of the new generation of Insignia, Vauxhall has enhanced the Insignia to such an extent that it’s now attracting a great deal of interest from Synergy’s personal lease customers.
For a start, Vauxhall has overhauled both the interior and exterior of the car to give it a stunning design – this is one of the best-looking cars in its segment – that really stands out and gives the Insignia real presence. The interior is now made from improved materials and the overall design and spaciousness is exceptional, it’s a big improvement on the previous generation.
To mark the change in style and presentation, the Insignia is now known as the Insignia Grand Sport, Sports Tourer, or Country Tourer – depending on the model. The Grand Sport is the saloon version of the Insignia, the Sports Tourer is the estate, and the Country Tourer is a more ruggedly-presented soft-roader in the vein of the Audi Allroad series.
Under the bonnet there’s a choice between diesel and petrol power, with the former being the more popular option, traditionally. A 1.6-litre turbo diesel with 134bhp is a good choice for efficiency, returning up to 61mpg and giving out just 121g/km of CO2. If you’re looking for a bit more punch though, there’s a couple of engines that should catch your eye – a 1.6-litre turbo petrol packing 197bhp, and Vauxhall’s excellent biturbo diesel, which as the name suggest uses two turbos instead of one to give a 2.0-litre engine 208bhp. Depending on your choice of engine and model, there will be a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic for switching between gears.
All Vauxhall Insignia lease deals are well equipped, but the mid-range ‘Tech Line Nav’ is where the range really starts to get generous with extras. That car gets autonomous emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, cruise and climate control, as well as automatic lights, wipers, and high-beam assist.
Vauxhall has outdone itself with the new Insignia, a hugely impressive car that now appeals to more people than ever before, and a worthy rival to the likes of the Ford Mondeo and even the Volkswagen Passat.
