It sits just below the X3 in the line-up, making it a great option if you want the versatility of an SUV without stepping up to a larger model. The BMW X2 offers a sportier, coupe-inspired alternative, while the all-electric iX1 shares the same platform for drivers making the switch to electric.

The BMW X1 is available with a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine producing 170hp, offering a 0–62mph time of around 8.3 seconds and smooth power delivery for everyday use. The performance-focused M35i xDrive features a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with 300hp, cutting the 0–62mph time to just 5.4 seconds and adding adaptive M suspension for a sharper drive.
Diesel options include a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing up to 211hp. All models come with a smooth-shifting automatic gearbox and are available with BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system.
The X1 xDrive 25e combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor to provide 245bhp, while the xDrive 30e increases power to 326bhp. It delivers strong performance alongside an electric-only range of up to 55 miles (WLTP), making it ideal for city driving and shorter commutes with zero tailpipe emissions.
The BMW X1 has a strong, modern design that makes it stand out in the compact SUV class. At the front, you’ll find BMW’s signature kidney grille alongside slim Adaptive LED headlights. At the rear, L-shaped LED taillights and a wide stance give the X1 a confident look on the road.
