Posted 6 years agoFirst introduced in 2013, the Mercedes GLA is the most compact SUV in the Mercedes-Benz range. Now in its second generation, it has been updated with more advanced technology, improved interior space and a fresh exterior design. Sitting just above the A-Class hatchback, the GLA blends SUV practicality with premium comfort, making it a great choice for personal and business customers.
It shares its platform with the A-Class and CLA coupe, but adds a more upright stance, larger boot and greater flexibility. The latest version also introduces upgraded infotainment and a refreshed interior across the range. Sitting just below the GLB in the Mercedes SUV line-up, the GLA is a practical and premium option for both personal and business leasing customers.

The GLA range offers a mix of petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid engines, all paired with smooth-shifting automatic transmissions. Most models are front-wheel drive, with Mercedes’ 4MATIC all-wheel drive available on selected trims.
The entry-level GLA 180 and GLA 200 use 1.3-litre petrol engines producing 136bhp and 163bhp respectively. Both are mild-hybrids with 48V tech to improve efficiency and offer 0–62 mph times from 9.4 to 8.4 seconds.
Diesel options include the GLA 200d and GLA 220d, powered by a 2.0-litre engine with 150bhp or 190bhp. These models are well-suited to long-distance drivers, delivering strong torque and fuel economy of over 50mpg.
The GLA 250e plug-in hybrid combines a 1.3-litre petrol engine with an electric motor to produce a combined 218bhp. It offers up to 48 miles of electric-only driving and accelerates from 0–62 mph in 7.1 seconds.
At the top of the range, the Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 and GLA 45 deliver impressive performance. The GLA 35 features a 306bhp 2.0-litre turbo engine and all-wheel drive, reaching 0–62mph in 5.2 seconds. The GLA 45 raises output to 421bhp and completes the same sprint in just 4.3 seconds, making it one of the quickest cars in its class.
The Mercedes GLA pairs compact SUV dimensions with sharp, modern styling. All models feature LED High Performance headlamps, a distinctive front grille with chrome accents, and sculpted lines.
AMG Line Executive and above add sportier exterior styling with AMG body detailing, chrome window surrounds and 19-inch AMG alloy wheels. AMG Line Premium upgrades these to larger 20-inch wheels and includes power-folding mirrors and KEYLESS-GO entry. Premium Plus adds Multibeam LED headlights with Adaptive Highbeam Assist and a panoramic sliding sunroof for an even more premium look and feel.
The Launch Edition stands out with exclusive paint options, privacy glass and bespoke badging, while AMG models feature unique bumpers, larger 20-inch or 21-inch AMG wheels, a rear spoiler, and performance styling touches such as twin-exit exhausts and red brake calipers.
Inside the GLA, you’ll find a premium cabin layout that balances Mercedes-Benz quality with everyday practicality. All versions come with MBUX infotainment featuring twin 10.25-inch displays—one for the digital driver’s display and another for the touchscreen media interface.
Sport Executive and AMG Line Executive trims include ARTICO man-made leather upholstery, heated front seats, a leather-trimmed multifunction steering wheel and ambient interior lighting. AMG Line Premium adds wireless smartphone charging, upgraded sound system, and 64-colour ambient lighting for a more refined cabin atmosphere.
Premium Plus models further enhance the interior with electrically adjustable front seats with memory function, keyless start, and additional driver comfort features. A panoramic glass roof is also included, making the cabin feel light and open.
AMG models add sport seats with additional bolstering, AMG-specific displays, and unique trim finishes to underline their performance focus, while the Launch Edition features exclusive interior detailing and materials not available on other trims.
The Mercedes GLA offers a strong level of safety equipment across the range. All models come with Active Brake Assist, Attention Assist, a reversing camera, and tyre pressure monitoring as standard.
