- Pure: Pure starts the range with 17-inch alloy wheels on diesel and hybrid models, or 19-inch on the plug-in hybrid. - Aspire: Tops the range with a panoramic sunroof, Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats with an Ergo Motion driver's seat and electric bolster and memory adjustment, Digital Key, fingerprint recognition, a customisable 10-inch head-up display, and Remote Smart Parking Assist. 20-inch alloy wheels are available exclusively on the Aspire diesel. Rear airbags are also fitted as standard on Aspire only.

Engine & performance

The Kia Sorento is offered with a choice of three powertrains, all paired with all-wheel drive.

The 2.2-litre CRDi diesel produces 190bhp and 440Nm of torque through an 8-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission. It accelerates from 0-62mph in 9.7 seconds and has a top speed of 124mph. Its maximum braked trailer weight of up to 2,500kg is the strongest towing capacity in the range. CO2 emissions range from 170g/km (Pure) to 174g/km (Aspire).

The 1.6-litre turbo petrol hybrid produces a combined 235bhp and 380Nm of torque through a 6-speed automatic gearbox, reaching 0-62mph in 9.0 seconds. Its self-charging 1.49kWh battery means no plugging in is required. It can tow up to 2,000kg braked. CO2 emissions range from 150g/km (Pure) to 157g/km (Aspire).

The 1.6-litre turbo petrol plug-in hybrid is the most powerful powertrain in the range, producing a combined 283bhp and 265Nm of torque. It covers 0-62mph in 8.0 seconds with a top speed of 128mph. Kia has purposefully mounted the 13.8kWh battery low in the chassis, in the middle of the axles, to keep the centre of gravity down. It gives up to 34 miles of WLTP electric-only range. Charging from 10-100% on a 3.3kW home wallbox takes around 3 hours 25 minutes. Its braked towing capacity is lower than the other two powertrains at up to 1,700kg, reflecting the added weight of the battery pack. CO2 emissions are 35g/km across all three trims.

Exterior features

The Sorento's exterior update brought a new bonnet design with an upscaled, higher-volume silhouette and the Kia logo moved to its top, plus vertically mounted LED headlights with Kia's star map daytime running light graphic and a reimagined radiator grille with a 3D mesh pattern. The front bumper was also redesigned, adding a wide skid plate and a vertical air intake. Together, these reflect Kia's 'Opposites United' design philosophy of pairing bold, technical surfacing with softer, more organic lines. Sequential indicators feature on Evolve and Aspire models. Roof rails are standard across the range, and wheel sizes run from 17 inches on entry-level Pure models up to 20 inches on the range-topping Aspire diesel. White Pearl paint comes as standard on all three trims. Mineral Blue, Midnight Black, Interstellar Grey, Cityscape Green and Volcanic Sand are all available as a premium optional extra.

Ventilation is added on Aspire. Kia's cabin materials also include recycled PET fabric across the range, alongside artificial leather elements, reflecting the brand's wider sustainability approach.

USB-C charging is fitted across all three rows of seats, and the 60:40 split second row folds and slides at the touch of a button, alongside 50:50 split-folding third-row seats, to reconfigure the cabin for passengers or cargo. Evolve and Aspire trims add a smart power tailgate that opens automatically when the key is detected nearby, useful when carrying bags or luggage. Aspire alone adds fingerprint recognition on the centre console, allowing drivers to start the car and load a personal profile without a physical key, and a digital rear-view mirror that can switch between a normal mirror and a rear camera feed when the view through the cabin is obscured.

Safety features

The Kia Sorento holds a five-star Euro NCAP rating, scoring 82% for adult occupant protection, 85% for child occupant protection, 63% for pedestrian protection, and 87% for Safety Assist. The rating covers the full Sorento line-up, including the plug-in hybrid.

Every trim gets Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Follow Assist, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, and a driver attention warning system as standard. Evolve and Aspire upgrade to Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2.0, which adds junction crossing detection, and Highway Driving Assist 2.0, which includes automatic lane changes when the indicator is used. Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, a 360-degree surround view monitor, and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance are also fitted from Evolve upwards.

Front, side and curtain airbags are included as standard. Rear airbags are also included as standard on Aspire only. As with any driver assistance system, these features support the driver rather than replace their attention on the road.
