Third Green Mark Milestone Reached by Synergy Car Leasing

Synergy Car Leasing has achieved Green Mark Level 3 accreditation, building on its Level 2 award and marking another step forward in its environmental responsibility.

The Green Mark framework recognises businesses with robust environmental management systems in place. Where Level 1 and 2 were about putting the right policies and foundations in place, Level 3 raises the bar by requiring proof of ongoing tracking. It required clear evidence that energy use and waste are being monitored regularly, and that the data is actually being used to drive further improvements, rather than sitting in a report.

Much of this good practice already existed day to day at Synergy. Getting to Level 3 was about pulling it together into a defined process, with clear ownership and measurable targets. That work was led by Jean-Paul Levahn, Director of IT & Technical Services, who put together the policies, reporting and evidence needed to turn existing good habits into something structured and measurable. In practice, that has meant introducing new food waste recycling bins, moving to energy suppliers offering a higher proportion of renewable energy, and mapping out a plan to move communal lighting onto sensor controls and shift the business from gas to electric power over time.

Jean-Paul Levahn said: "A lot of what Level 3 asks for, we were already doing, just not in any structured way. I've put a lot of time into pulling that together, so we can actually see what we're using, what we're recycling, and where we can cut back next. Seeing that turn into Level 3 makes it feel worthwhile, and gives us something we can keep building on year after year."

The accreditation sits within Synergy's wider ESG strategy, which includes a commitment to 100% renewable energy by 2030. Having moved from Level 1 to Level 3 in quick succession, Synergy isn't stopping here, with further environmental targets already planned.
