Now sitting at the heart of the Peugeot range, the 308 is positioned above the smaller 208 supermini and below the larger 3008 SUV. The Peugeot 308 offers a choice of efficient petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrains, available across both the hatchback and SW estate. Efficiency and electric range figures may vary slightly between the hatch and estate versions due to size and weight differences.
The 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine produces 130bhp and can be paired with a manual or automatic gearbox, returning up to 52.3mpg (WLTP). The 1.5-litre BlueHDi diesel also delivers 130bhp with an automatic transmission and offers up to 64.2mpg (WLTP).
Plug-in hybrid models combine a 1.6-litre petrol engine and an electric motor, producing either 180bhp or 225bhp. They offer up to 37 miles of electric-only range and low CO₂ emissions from 25g/km. The fully electric e-308 uses a 54kWh battery and 156bhp motor to deliver up to 258 miles of range (WLTP) and supports 100kW rapid charging.
The Peugeot 308 has a bold and distinctive design, with sharp bodywork, a low stance and a sculpted bonnet that gives it a confident presence on the road. The front-end features Peugeot’s modern grille and LED headlights with fang-like design, which comes as standard across the range. Standard features also include LED headlights, body-coloured bumpers and 17-inch Halong alloy wheels on Allure models.
GT versions enhance the look further with 18-inch Kamakura diamond-cut alloys, full Matrix LED headlights, signature claw-style LED lighting, a black roof, and gloss black exterior accents. Subtle hybrid or electric badging also distinguishes electrified versions, while aerodynamic details help improve efficiency without compromising on style.
The interior of the Peugeot 308 blends sharp design with high-quality materials and driver-focused tech. At the heart of the interior is Peugeot’s i-Cockpit layout, featuring a compact steering wheel, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch central touchscreen as standard. The system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with touch-sensitive i-Toggles for customisable shortcuts on Allure trim and above.
All models come with automatic air conditioning, ambient interior lighting and supportive front seats. The higher trim adds a 3D-effect digital display, sportier seat materials with contrast stitching, and aluminium-style pedals. GT models can also be specified with heated seats and a premium Focal sound system for a more refined driving experience.
All Peugeot 308 models come with lane keep assist, driver attention alert, automatic emergency braking, traffic sign recognition and rear parking sensors.
GT models add more advanced systems such as adaptive cruise control with stop and go, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and a reversing camera. Higher-spec versions can also be fitted with a 360° parking camera and semi-autonomous lane positioning assist, making motorway driving more comfortable and controlled.
