Now it’s back as a fully electric crossover designed for modern life. It follows the Renault 5 as part of a growing electric line-up for the French brand, bringing a the same retro-inspired styling and charm that made the original such a success.
With up to 247 miles of range (WLTP), the Renault 4 is built on Renault’s AmpR Small electric platform and comes with fast charging as standard. It seats five, has a 420-litre boot, and brings a clever blend of old and new to the road.

Renault 4 leasing is available in three well-equipped trim levels:
- Evolution: Entry-level trim with 18-inch ‘Jogging’ alloy wheels, a 10.1-inch OpenR Link touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic LED headlights, and rear parking sensors with reversing camera.
- Techno: Adds 18-inch ‘Sixties’ black diamond-cut alloy wheels, Google built-in with voice control and navigation, 48-colour ambient interior lighting, and adaptive cruise control.
- Iconic: Top-spec trim with distinctive 18-inch black ‘Parisienne’ diamond-cut alloy wheels, a nine-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, and premium recycled upholstery featuring quilted black textile, grey houndstooth detailing and yellow contrast stitching.
Every Renault 4 comes with the same electric setup across the range. A single front-wheel motor produces 150bhp and 245Nm of torque, powered by a 52kWh battery. This setup delivers smooth, quiet performance and a 0–62mph time of around 8.2 seconds. Range is consistent across all trims, with up to 247 miles (WLTP) on a full charge. The Renault 4 also supports 100kW DC rapid charging, so you can top up from 15 to 80% in around 30 minutes.
The Renault 4’s design draws clear inspiration from the 1960s, with the rounded headlights are framed in a way that recalls the original’s character. Despite its retro cues, this is a modern crossover in every sense. The raised ride height and strong shoulder lines give it a tougher stance than the smaller Renault 5, with more road presence and added practicality. It’s slightly taller and longer than the 5, offering more space and a more SUV‑like driving position.
Each trim level adds its own design touches. Evolution models come with 18‑inch ‘Jogging’ alloy wheels and body-coloured trim. Techno upgrades to 18‑inch ‘Sixties’ black diamond‑cut wheels, adding a darker, more dynamic finish. Iconic versions include two-tone paint, 18‑inch ‘Parisienne’ wheels, gloss black wheel arches and other subtle styling details that help set it apart at the top-of-the-range.
Inside, the Renault 4 feels uncluttered and practical, with a raised driving position and a flat floor to maximise space. A 10.1-inch OpenR Link touchscreen comes as standard across the range, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on every model.
Higher trims bring more comfort and tech. Techno adds ambient lighting and wireless charging, while Iconic includes heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and upgraded recycled upholstery with yellow contrast stitching. The boot holds up to 420 litres, with split-folding rear seats for added flexibility.
All Renault 4 models come with essential safety tech as standard, including lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking, traffic sign recognition and a driver attention alert. Rear parking sensors and a reversing camera also feature across the range.
Techno and Iconic trims add adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitoring, offering more support on longer journeys and in busy traffic. ISOFIX points, multiple airbags and tyre pressure monitoring are included on all versions.
