VOLKSWAGEN POLO HATCHBACK CAR LEASING
For many decades now, the Volkswagen Polo hatchback has been at the top of its game in the supermini segment of the car market. The Polo easily ranks as one of the very best examples of the small car ever made and is still the default option for many Synergy lease customers seeking out a smart, stylish little car.
2018 saw the new sixth generation of Polo appear on our streets, and it’s safe to say that the little hatchback is more accomplished and mature than ever before, featuring a raft of new technologies and features in that compact 5-door hatchback package. More than 12,000,000 of them have been produced since its introduction many decades ago, so the formula doesn’t need to change all that much, but to help it stand out a little more, Volkswagen has tweaked the exterior shape, adding some subtle creases to give it a fresher but still traditionally understated Volkswagen look.
Like many small cars the Polo hatchback is nimble and light on its feet, but it’s also engaging and fun to drive without being too firm or sporty. This ‘fun factor’ element combines nicely with the quality feel that all Volkswagen’s seem to possess and it sets it apart from other cars in this segment. As a Volkswagen, it also has the uncanny knack of being able to fit in wherever it may be. The Polo just looks equally at home in the country lanes of Yorkshire as it does the inner streets of London.
Several impressive new features appear in this new generation of Polo hatchback. Autonomous emergency braking is a potential life saver, applying the brakes if the driver fails to detect an impending collision – a vital piece of safety kit. There’s now also ‘big car’ optional extras such as adaptive cruise control and blind spot monitoring, as well as new digital dials and bright LED headlights to help guide you when the Sun goes down. Those who like to stay connected will appreciate that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also present for the first time.
Underneath the bonnet you’ll find a selection of engines aimed primarily at delivering strong economical performance. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine fits particularly well with the little Polo, and the new 1.5-litre ‘EVO’ petrol offers excellent punch. Just one diesel engine remains on offer – a 1.6-litre unit built only pure efficiency in mind, and petrolheads should be pleased to learn that a 2.0-litre, 200 horsepower GTI model is still part of the model range.
The new Volkswagen Polo has new features, improved performance and a fresh look, as well as representing excellent value on the lease market. It’s a very easy car to recommend.
