CITROEN C5 AIRCROSS
The new Citroen C5 Aircross is a typically distinctive offering from the French manufacturer but has so much more to offer than just style.
Citroen has made it very clear recently that it wants to become a brand known for its comfort. The French giant believes cars have become too focused on cornering and engaging handling and that many car buyers actually desire something different – a comfortable, composed riding car.
Synergy’s car enthusiast crowd will remember that Citroen used to make very comfortable saloons, with one of the final ones being the C5. The ‘C’ prefix has been used on Citroen models since the 1930’s, and the new SUV has inherited the C5 designation along with Citroen’s ‘Aircross’ branding that denotes an SUV. Mechanically speaking, the C5 Aircross shares much of its components with the Peugeot 3008, an SUV that has won both critical acclaim in the press and plenty of praise from its drivers.
The C5 Aircross is a very practical SUV, with a 720-litre boot space that can expand up to 1,630-litres with the rear seats folded down. When in use, those rear seats can also host 3 comfortably and space inside the cabin for both people and items that need to be stored is expansive.
As for the power sources, there’s a selection of Peugeot/Citroen Group units of both petrol and diesel sources and a manual gearbox is provided as standard, though we expect many Synergy customers to opt for an 8-speed automatic. This unit really works with the comfortable suspension and seating that Citroen has equipped the C5 Aircross with and takes the strain out of driving, particular in areas with heavy traffic.
Being a modern car, Citroen has also aimed to offer as much as possible in the way of equipment. The French firm says the C5 Aircross boasts 19 different driver assistance technologies and 6 connectivity technologies that make driving safer and easier. Citroen has also made the new SUV very customisable, there are over 30 different configurations for the exterior and interior, giving Synergy customers plenty of room for expression.
