Posted 7 years agoCars don’t get much more beautiful than this. This is the Jaguar F-Type coupe, the long-awaited spiritual successor to the 1960’s classic, the Jaguar E-Type, a car the legendary Enzo Ferrari once described as the most beautiful car he’d ever seen.
Jaguar had a lot of work to do to live up to the icon of the 1960s, but the firm outdid itself, delivering a car for the modern era that very much did its predecessor justice. 2022’s Jaguar F-Type coupe is facelifted from a car first revealed over 10 years ago, being shown off to the world at the 2012 edition of the Paris Motor Show, after a short reveal at a London film festival shortly before. It is a sleek, two door coupe that is just as much of a Grand Tourer (GT) as it is a sports car. It can actually be driven in both ways, and is equally comfortable with either, though many prefer to wield it more as a GT.
The facelifted version of the F-Type coupe arrived in December 2019, and its update didn’t just cover the exterior design. It also included new LED headlights, new wheels, a new infotainment system, and a reconfigurable instrument cluster. It also saw the end of the V6 model being offered in the UK market. Now we’ve just two engines to choose from, the 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder unit, and the more popular choice, the 5.0-litre supercharged V8, complete with its thunderous power and theatrical engine and exhaust notes.
With the 2.0-litre engine, you get a car that’s far from sluggish. 0-62mph will take just under 6-seconds, and will go all the way to an electronically limited top speed of 155mph. Meanwhile, the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 and its incredible 575 horsepower can reach the same 62mph mark in just 3.7-seconds, with a top speed topping out at 186mph. An automatic gearbox is provided as standard on all F-Type models, and a non-supercharged version of the V8 can also be obtained, with around 450 horsepower providing a happy middle ground between the 2.0-litre and supercharged 5.0-litre.
