The BYD Seal U offers a smooth and quiet driving experience, thanks to its plug-in hybrid system. All models combine electric and petrol power, offering economical driving with the reassurance of a petrol engine for longer trips.
The Boost trim provides 218bhp and achieves 0–62 mph in 8.9 seconds. It uses an 18.3 kWh battery with an electric-only range of up to 50 miles (WLTP) and official fuel economy of up to 313.9mpg (WLTP).
The Comfort features a larger 26.6 kWh battery. This extends the electric-only range to 78 miles (WLTP), making it ideal for drivers who regularly complete short journeys without needing the petrol engine.
Design increases power to 324bhp with the addition of a second electric motor, providing a faster 0–62 mph time of just 5.9 seconds. The electric-only range is up to 43 miles (WLTP), supported by the same 26.6 kWh battery.
The BYD Seal U features a clean, modern design that stands out from other plug-in hybrids. Its flowing lines and smooth surfaces take inspiration from BYD’s Ocean Series design scheme.
LED headlights and rear lights come as standard across the range, along with flush-fitting door handles and 18-inch alloy wheels on Boost and Comfort trims. The Design model adds 19-inch bi-colour alloys, extra chrome detailing, and a dynamic welcome light sequence for a more premium finish.
A panoramic sunroof is standard on Comfort and Design models, giving the cabin a lighter, more open feel. The Design trim also features an electric tailgate for added everyday convenience.
Inside the BYD Seal U, the focus is on comfort, space, and everyday usability. The cabin is well laid out and finished with quality materials, giving it a modern and uncluttered feel. There's generous space in both rows, with good headroom and legroom for adults.
