Engine & Performance

Both Polestar 4 body styles use the same 100kWh battery and are available with Rear motor or Dual motor power. Rear motor is the standard rear-wheel-drive option across the range, producing 272bhp and 343Nm of torque and reaching 0-62mph in 7.1 seconds in the coupe and 7.3 seconds in the SUV. Each version has a WLTP range target of up to 385 miles or 391 miles respectively.

Dual motor is the all-wheel-drive upgrade, adding a second motor over the front axle and raising output to 544bhp and 686Nm. This cuts 0-62mph to 3.8 seconds in the coupe and 3.9 seconds in the SUV, though targeted WLTP range drops to up to 367 miles or 373 miles. Both powertrains share a 200kW DC rapid charging rate, which allows the car to be charged from 10 to 80% in around 30 minutes. Towing capacity reaches up to 1,500kg on Rear motor and 2,000kg on Dual motor across both body styles.

Exterior Features

Both body styles share the same low front end, dual-blade headlights and illuminated Polestar badge, and the difference between them starts behind the B-pillar. The coupe keeps a low, sloping roofline and has no rear window at all, relying on a roof-mounted camera that feeds into a digital display instead. The SUV reshapes the same rear section into a straighter, more upright stance with a conventional glass window, a standard rear wiper and full-length roof rails that add a 100kg dynamic roof load capacity.

The coupe is available in five exterior colours, while the SUV extends this to eight, including two colours introduced specifically for the SUV. 20-inch, 21-inch and 22-inch wheel options are available across both body styles. A panoramic glass roof comes as standard on each, and the SUV's version extends further back towards the tailgate.

Interior Features

Inside, both body styles share the same wide horizontal dashboard, 15.4-inch centre touchscreen, 10.2-inch driver display and solar system-inspired ambient lighting. Standard upholstery is a vegan Bio-attributed MicroTech material. Both cars offer Tailored Knit and Nappa leather upgrades as optional extras.

The SUV's straighter roofline adds extra rear headroom compared to the coupe, and its boot holds up to 530 litres to the parcel shelf, rising to 1,665 litres with the rear seats folded. The coupe's boot holds 526 litres, rising to 1,536 litres folded. Both cars include a 15-litre front storage compartment for smaller items such as charging cables.

Safety Features

The Polestar 4 achieved a five-star Euro NCAP rating in July 2025, scoring 92% for adult occupant protection, 85% for child occupant protection, 81% for vulnerable road users and 79% for safety assist systems. This test was carried out on the coupe, ahead of the SUV's launch, so the rating reflects the shared underlying structure rather than an independent result for the SUV body style.

Both body styles include automatic emergency braking, lane keeping aid, blind spot information, driver monitoring and a network of exterior cameras and ultrasonic sensors providing a 360-degree view. Pilot Assist, which adds adaptive cruise control and steering support, is available as an upgrade on both.
