RENAULT KADJAR
The Renault Kadjar offers space, equipment and efficiency along with attractive SUV looks at a tempting price.
You’re probably wondering why Renault named its SUV ‘Kadjar’. The answer lies in the history books of Iran, specifically the ‘Qajar’ dynasty, who ruled the nation from 1789-1925. One of the Qajar King’s was responsible for bringing the very first cars to Iran, after purchasing 2 Renault’s while touring Europe in 1900.
The Kadjar SUV is essentially the Renault version of the ever-popular Nissan Qashqai, a family SUV that has proven so popular, Nissan produced its 3,000,000th model in the summer of 2018. Actually, underneath the Kadjar’s curvier, Frencher body lies the same engineering that you’ll find in the Qashqai, which alone is the kind of knowledge that encourages our customers towards the Kadjar.
It was first launched back in 2015, though a new, facelifted model was released in 2018 to keep it up to date. Both petrol and diesel engines are currently available, with a choice of manual or automatic gearbox options. The petrol engine is a 1.3-litre 4-cylinder turbo with either 138 or 157bhp. For diesel, your engine will be a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder with 114bhp. A more powerful output with all-wheel drive was recently dropped, as Renault felt many customers don’t require their Kadjar’s to have all-wheel drive. At its most efficient, testing suggests it should be comfortable enough to return 60mpg+ while only putting 117g/km of CO2 emissions back into the environment.
Space is so important to families, and the Kadjar offers plenty of space in the rear seats, as well as a 472-litre boot that expands to 1,478-litres if the rear seats aren’t required. Currently, 4 separate levels of trim are available with the Kadjar, named Play, Iconic, S Design and GT Line. All models get climate control, automatic lights and wipers and cruise control with a speed limiter as standard. At Iconic level, 19-inch alloy wheels and Renault’s ‘R-Link’ touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, DAB radio, Bluetooth and smartphone integration comes into spec. Finally, at S Design and above, front and rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera and a panoramic sunroof are equipped as standard.
Spacious, efficient and extremely well-priced, the Renault Kadjar is an excellent family car that easily proves itself as a worthy companion to Synergy customers.
