Citroen Grand C4 SpaceTourer
The Citroen C4 SpaceTourer gains 2 extra seats and an extra name – ‘Grand’.
Before we really get into talking about this Grand C4 SpaceTourer, we really have to give Citroen some credit. Building an attractive, exciting looking MPV is incredibly hard to do, as the shape and size requirements of these ‘People Carriers’ really don’t lend themselves to good-looking design. In this car – and the smaller non-Grand C4 SpaceTourer - Citroen proves it can be done.
As you might already know, before Citroen named this car the SpaceTourer, older models of this vehicle were known as the ‘C4 Picasso’ - named after the famous 20th century artist Pablo Picasso. Over 3-million Picasso models were sold across the world and the car has always had a good reputation with customers here in the UK, though the rise in popularity of SUVs did dent its desirability - current trends seem to suggest SUV’s are the more fashionable way to transport your family.
Inside the engine compartment of the Grand C4 SpaceTourer, Citroen uses the same engines as it does in the majority of its range, petrol and diesel units badged as ‘PureTech’ and ‘BlueHDi’ respectively. Both pair very nicely indeed with a new 8-speed automatic gearbox that goes well with the light and airy SpaceTourer ambience with seemless changes between gears.
Citroen has made major efforts to provide a really spacious interior, with a particular emphasis on getting light inside the cabin. A large windscreen and optional panoramic sunroof make a real difference to the feel inside this car. Specify Citroen’s ‘RELAX’ seating upgrade and the front seats get a massage function and improved headrests, while the passenger seat even gets reclining capability with a footrest. In terms of space, this is of course a 7-seater but the Citroën Grand C4 SpaceTourer's boot capacity is a very generous 632-litres, expanding to 793-litres when you fold the second row of seats down.
As with the smaller, 5-seat version of the SpaceTourer, a wide selection of driver assistance systems and technology such as autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assistance, a reversing camera and more give the Grand C4 SpaceTourer plenty of tech.
